Amelia is an antique city founded, according to mithology, by King Ameroe. According to Plinio in his Naturalis Historia, the city had already been founded in 1134 BC.
Known in Roman times as Ameria, it had the chance to become a Municipality in the year 90 BC and had its own currency.
You can explore and experience the city through its Museums and historical sites: the Archaeological Museum, Palazzo Petrignani and the Roman Cisterns.
